I worked in the ED which is a fairly small department, where consultants work on the shop floor with 2 working every morning and afternoon shift. 40ish hour week. Friendly department with good support at night. Excellent nursing staff. High volume of elderly medical patients come through the ED. Good time off after nights, and just over 2 weeks annual leave in 6 months. Once on a 6 month job, it seems fairly easy to extend Emergency training.

In addition currently not a huge number of British/Irish doctors here. Western hospital is based in a poor socioeconomic area so is best to live in Melbourne city centre. Social scene very limited.
