It depends what job you'd like to do as well. If you are coming for the beach lifestyle where you want to surf lots, then Gosford is the best place, followed by the Melbourne Hospitals (preferably Geelong - I can't say much about the others). Your next best bet would be Bunbury in WA, which is two hours south of Perth. You'd be best off doing emergency as well, as you're guaranteed six days off a fortnight and surfing in the week is much better than at weekends when it gets crowded.

If you're a kitesurfer, then any of the Perth hospitals or Bunbury would be the way to go. I'd actually try Fremantle before Royal Perth or Sir Charles as it's more laid back, but any are good for what you'd be looking for.

If you'd like to be by the beach, but aren't into watersports and want weekends and a city life, then Melbourne is the best city in Australia. Do a ward job (medicine, paeds, O&G - whatever you do) and work in one of the Melbourne or Sydney (Manly probably best) hospitals.

If you're on orthopod or a surgeon, you'll struggle to get a job out here straight off and even if you do it's a pretty difficult lifestyle.

Pay wise, WA is better than NSW which is better than Melbourne(worst pay in Oz).

If you want to do emergency, or rather could tolerate it (there's no four hour rule, so you can sort out patients), then you'll pretty much get a job anywhere in Oz.

Hope this helps. Good luck
