Is it necessary to have a car in Australia? The short answer is yes, most definitely. Although local public transport system is very good (see our guide to local public transport), Australia is vast and even local trips can be lengthy. You will find your options limited without your own transport and considering the 2nd hand cars are pretty cheap, your best option is to buy a car and use our community section to sell the car to incoming doctors when you leave section.
