Hints and Tips about shipping your goods E-mail

This page contains a comprehensive list of items to check and questions to consider when planning your move. We understand your belongings are valuable and some of them can never be replaced. This advice will give you peace of mind that you have selected the right company to ship your possessions - saving heartache later. Make sure you relax and enjoy a stress free move!

-     DO establish what size cartons you are being provided with and the maximum weight per carton. Please check the dimensions so you can compare sizes and weights properly.

-     DO establish a delivery time frame for your shipment. Check when it will be collected and how long it will take to be delivered.

-     DO be sure to investigate why some companies say they are "Now able to match" other competitors prices by lowering theirs! Be alert - ask yourself: "Why is this?" Are there surprise charges at the destination?

-     DO check that you have been provided with the required documents by your agent to help you process your shipment properly. There are statutory requirements in many countries that prohibit the import of animal skins, foodstuffs, fruit and seeds. Disregard for these laws could incur heavy fines and penalties. Make sure you have been given all the facts!

-     DO Not accept a verbal quotation, ensure you have a proper itemised quotation for the service you are booking.

-     DO Not assume all destination costs are included in your quotation unless they are clearly stated. All applicable charges should be included and and explained. This will ensure you avoid any "misunderstandings" later!

-     DO Not assume that your goods are automatically covered by insurance. Insurance is normally an extra charge and it is in your interest to protect your property prior to shipping. Make sure you take this into consideration and protect your belongings with adequate contents cover. Our 24 hour friendly staff will be glad to assist you with any help you require on this point.

-     DO Not accept companies that demean or belittle their competitors. All organisations should adhere to a strict code of conduct in their business dealings. Ensure that the company you choose is bonded for your financial protection. Be confident and book with a professional and ethical company.

Finally DO Not leave everything to the last moment. Give yourself plenty of time for packing, filling in your forms and shipping lists. They need to be neatly printed and legible! Spend a few moments checking you have completed and returned all the necessary documents with your shipment. Failure to do so will cause you unnecessary delays!
